Bluebird
One day a bluebird landed on my shoulder
I asked her what she was doing there
She said, "I’m just resting my wings for a minute. Do you Mind?"
"I just wanted to play in your hair?"

She said, "I like it. It’s kind of messy"
"It sort of reminds me of my nest."
I said, " I’m not feeling too good right now you now
"So, I’m not looking my best."

She said, ‘Okay, then, that’s what I’ll be here for."
"Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong?"
I said, "That’s okay, I’ll be okay."
"I’ll just put it in t a song. Yes, I think I will."

It was a Monday afternoon
My heart was flying at half mast
I was baying at noontime moon
I was screaming at the past
I was looking in the sky
There were stars in my eyes
I was just lying there on my back chewing on a blade of grass

Then I got a flash of my life
The kind you get when you think you are dying
I thought, "Maybe I’m already dead and I just don’t know it yet."
That’s when I started crying
The sky became blurry
The moon and stars disappeared
There were no more clouds in my eyes
And to my surprise I began to laugh
The kind you have when you know you’re going to be okay
That’s all I really had to say

It started getting later, started getting colder
Maybe I’m just getting older
"I’ll always love you" is what I told her
I smiled at the bluebird sitting on my shoulder
And she half smiled back at me with nothing much to say
So we both spread our wings and flew our separate ways
